If you are trying to reach JW through symbols, it would most likely be a programming language; =/ does not not mean "not equal to" in any program language I know. You can try <>, !=, NOT =,...There are plenty more, but I won't list them.

ok! here we go

{
if( !PAPER_BOOK( obj, ITEM_TAKE_READ ) )
{
send_to_JW( "This is a book, you read it.\r\n", ch );
return;
}
if( !AUDIO_BOOK( obj, ITEM_TAKE_LISTEN ) )

{
send_to_JW( "this is an audiobook, you listen to it.\r\n",ch);
}

I have no idea if this is correct, I mostly just stole it from the MUD code, perhaps it is close enough for you to understand Razz

You didn't define your methods

PAPER_BOOK() and AUDIO_BOOK()

You should probably use something like if(obj.Class == PaperBook.Class)

Also if the terms are exclusive you want to use an else if() to indicate that if the first if is true it shouldn't test the second.

wow, it's like that medical condition that when you speak you know what you want to say but it comes out in a horrible jumbled mess, or the wrong words completely. Except here you know what you're saying and other people can understand you but it is a jumbled mess to me.

I think there may be something between them in publication order, if you're reading them that way. Otherwise, no problem.

Ahh now that I look at it I'm not sure what to read, I really enjoy Rinsewind, but other stuff could be cool too.
