Totally hot new Daring and Leadership rules:

New uses for Daring:

-A bonus to a d20 roll, in the same fashion as before (spending from 4-3 gives +4, spending from 2-1 gives +2, etc.). This can now be stacked by spending multiple daring (for example, spending from 4-2 gives +4 and +3, for a total of +7 to the roll).

-A point of Daring may be spent for a temporary (one round) extra natural initiative die. Multiple daring may be spent in this way at the same time.

-Any number of points of Daring may be spent to reroll damage (the highest value is kept, one reroll per spent point).

-Daring may still be spent to reroll d6s on crits and botches, as before.

New uses for Leadership:

-Leadership may be spent as before to give another player a bonus to a d20 roll (for example, player 1 spends from 4-2 leadership to give player 2 a +4 to his roll; if player 2 succeeds, p1 gets 1 leadership back and p2 gets 1 daring back). The player spending leadership may now spend additional points for an extra bonus (spending from 4-1, for example, gives +4 and +3 for a total of +7) but both players will still only get 1 daring or leadership back.

-1 point of Leadership may be spent to give another player a temporary (one round) extra die of trained initiative. Only one point per player may be spent in this way.

Regaining Daring and Leadership:

-Every natural severity multiple of 5 on a roll of 20 gives 1 (severity of 5-9 gives 1, 10-14 gives 2, etc.). This must be the rolled value - bonuses to severity from plane stats, advantages, etc, do not count toward this.

-A peaceful night's sleep (~8 hours uninterrupted).

-Using a combat action to regain your composure. This requires a successful concentration+endurance roll of difficulty 20.

-Variable other situations of the GM's discretion. For example, most successfully completed battles will give at least 1 point of either.

Hmmm sounds good to me boss.

I hope you're talking about adding something other than Daring when you say that.

If daring and leadership could be applied to my plane repair, I could get a +22 on my own and that's not counting if someone decided to throw me some leadership. Joewhite could throw me a +7 on leadership or whatever and we would be doing pretty well.../drool

i think one of your long shot type rules could be used in that situation, since even a botch on that would still mean he's putting the plane together faster than anyone. Oh and hes using his nose to tighten bolts

Catch!

But seriously...that's pretty insane. With the right person's leadership, you could have a bonus of well over 30. Odds are in that case, you'll just be doing a relatively simple activity extremely fast and well. In other words, you won't be able to use that massive extra bonus to design new parts and such.

I would hope not. I don't have much experience with designing so I wouldn't try to design anything too complex. I would like to work on that in my travels though.

Good deal. Given all that bonus you'd likely have a plane assembled about as fast as a normal man would sneeze, but in the field of design you'd be more held back by intelligence/knowledge and, as you said, lack of experience.

But damn are you going to be quick at fixing planes if you spend D&L like that. Shocked

Miko: Damn Neil, What are you doing! We need those engines back up!

Neil: I just can't do it! I dont have the daring!

MIko: (Leadership) Look Neil you have to, if you dont we all die! You have to save us!

::Newly empowered, Neil somehow fixes the entire engine with just a Chuck Norrisesque stare::

::Miko proceeds to OMGWTFPOWN the enemy Zep with her weathergage:: PHEWPHEWPHEW(if cannons made noises like lazers, and with Neil's insane bonus, maybe he did make them into lazers?)

I like the scenario Jeremy and I came up with on AIM-

Sheen: Sir! Enemy Cruiser coming out of the western cloud bank! Spotters count between 70 and 80 guns, and she's armed with a Prow Cannon! She's bringing it to bear on the hangar!

Milliardo: Oh why did we trade away all our planes for a single broken bomber? WHY????

Gordon: Niel! Get this thing fixed and in the air! We have to evacuate!

Sheen: There's no time! Enemy ship is preparing to fire!

Miko: (leadership) GET THIS PLANE FIXED NOW!!!!

The deafening thunder of a prow cannon can be heard.

Niel double long-shots and gets 68 with a 3x crit (severity of 4, 5, 6/5).

The room fills with white light and Niel seems to disappear. The rest of you are frozen in place, unable to move.

Sheen: Sir! Enemy Cruiser coming out of the western cloud bank! Spotters count between 70 and 80 guns, and she's armed with a Prow Cannon! She's bringing it to bear on the hangar!

Niel: Plane's ready. Everyone get in. Cool

I realize I chose a leadership class but I see myself getting potentially boned xp wise by giving HUGE bonuses and extra actions to other people but really not doing anything myself, do you plan to work around that mark?
Also leadership 4-1 would give 4+3+2 = 9 wouldnt it?
Another question: I realize leadership helps others but its damn expensive to raise when it really doesnt help me at all so what insentive is there for me to spend my xp/inspiration on it?
