I took some time off around my birthday (November 11). I want to head down Joewhite-way. Was thinking about hitting up Dogfish Head. It's like a 2 hour drive from Joe's but that would be much better than the 5 and a half hour drive from here. Joe is also gonna do a little investigating to see if anything else cool is going on. There's always good food and good times to be had though either way. Hopefully some of you guys are up for a weekend away at Joes. I have checked with Joe already, and he is down. He is also off on Friday Nov. 10th, so we could even go down on Friday. I think some of you teacher types may have the 10th off as well. I seem to remember schools liking to give students those days off at least, but maybe teachers have to be there. Not sure. Let me know if you guys are interested.

So far the options I've found are:

Bacon Jam (~$45 for VIP with live music and bacon foods and bacon inspired cocktails. (includes 3 drink and 3 food tickets)

Chili Cook Off at Union Brewing in Baltimore

Lindsey Stirling is playing

Irish Festival

About a 2 hour drive away there is a drifting event (https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/dominion-drifting-road-course-11-12-17-raceway-767829)

the raceway nearest me (5 minutes) is having something but it isn't announced yet
http://capitolraceway.com

Probably burlesque shows around but they won't be on the calendar yet.

I'm probably going to be a late call on this. I might have jury duty that week (selection is on Monday the 6th), so I don't know what kind of effect that'll have on planning anything.

You may be OK. I'm no expert because somehow I have never been summoned for jury duty (maybe because I moved around so much?) but I doubt they'd hold a trial on the weekend. Anyone know this for sure?

I think he'll be alright too. The holiday and the weekend should be safe.

https://www.dogfish.com/visit

We have decent options for tours and this is only about 2 hours away so we'll definitely fit it in one of the days.

Spirited Away harvest festival at a pretty cool local "swanky cafeteria" with a bunch of small stalls that serve 1-2 specialty dishes. Also a petting zoo.

Any interest in the Grain to Glass Tour? Here are the deets:

Quote:
EXPERIENCE GOODNESS, FROM GRAIN TO GLASS

Experience all that awesome goodness that goes into our Dogfish Head ales & spirits, and join us on a tour of delicious adventure! Meander through normally off-limit parts of the brewery to gain a richer understanding on how we make our off-centered ales & spirits, and have a few beers & a cocktail along the way!

• Cold Storage - breathe in the delicious smells in the huge refrigerator that stores all the REAL ingredients that go into our beers (it's cold in there, so it's brief!)
• Grain Handling Room - see what sets our grains apart from the rest
• 200 BBL Brewhouse - see how we convert all that delicious starchy grain into wort
• Palo & Oak Wood-Aging Room - normally locked, we'll stop in here and learn about fermentation & wood aging beer. Sample the freshest 60 Minute you've ever had and try some Palo Santo Marron, a wood-aged beer
• Distillery - enjoy a keg-conditioned cocktail in our new distillery, get a primer on distillation and learn how we distill our beers into our new lineup of scratch-made spirits
• Sam's Stash - sample one of our vintage beers in the cage where Sam stores beers for aging...anywhere from 3-5 years!
• Steampunk Treehouse - ever wonder what's in that treehouse? Check it out!

The tour costs $30 / person and we limit it to 20 people per tour. In addition to the beer + cocktails, you'll walk away with some rad swag including a Dogfish Head pint glass & shot glass. We're talking incredible value here folks.

NOTE: **This is a 21 of age and older event and you MUST wear CLOSED TOED SHOES and LONG PANTS. Capri pants are not appropriate for this tour.

There is a cost for it vs the free tour but it seems like you get a couple things out of it. I bet we would have to buy these in advance though.

Just realized I didn't post it here, but I am in for this trip. And I am up for anything.

I'm in, also depending on timing and location this Twin Peaks themed burlesque show might be pretty awesome to stop by Philly.
