Just hit close. The installation should proceed without issue. |

I can't even walk around the hanger. Just the hanger gives me 1 FPS. I need a better graphics card. _________________ His question....A Buck...apparently he put his wager first, and now his question....Futter...Buck...Futter....BUCKFUTTER!!! |

What is this? 1990? Seriously, I thought all new games were pretty much playable on any system...you just may not get the most beautiful game experience. _________________ Reading: Articles on basic house renovation

That sucks. Hopefully I'll be ok to play it. Of course, that's assuming I have time to play it this week. _________________ Reading: Articles on basic house renovation

I mean, it's a pre-alpha, so you're not missing a ton if you don't play it. It's kind of just a really shiny tech demo.
And I can do some basic space combat with settings on "low," but it's definitely not running well enough to be enjoyable in the long run.
We can also probably assume that the final version will have slightly tighter code and be a little easier to run. Or it'll be even prettier and harder to run. Who knows... |

Ahh gotcha, that makes more sense. I thought it was just a free week of the finished game. I know nothing. _________________ Reading: Articles on basic house renovation

If you haven't done any reading on it yet, it's a spiritual successor to Freelancer, made by the guy who made Freelancer (and a couple of Wing Commander games, I think). Jeremy and I have been geeking out about it for a while, so I had assumed everyone knew what it was.
For anyone who can't run it, these pretty much show you what the current release has:
^Make sure you're in 720p and skip ahead to about 3:30ish.
^This one actually has 1440p and 2160p options, too. |

Has anyone here checked out Elite:Dangerous ? It looks fairly similar but moreso to the tune of Freelancer. _________________ His question....A Buck...apparently he put his wager first, and now his question....Futter...Buck...Futter....BUCKFUTTER!!! |

I don't think ED is necessarily going to be any more like Freelancer -- they're just further along in their development, so they're closer right now (they have open space and system travel, while SC is still just a dogfight module). It looks pretty decent too, though. I've seen a few videos, and they seem to have an inordinate amount of space debris, and enemy ships that take a TON of pounding to destroy. Other than that, it looks good -- also looks easier to run than SC. |

It runs pretty well for me at max settings. I do get some weird artifacting sometimes in the hangar reflections. It seems pretty fun for what it is. Definitely want a flight yolk for it though. My mouse doesn't have enough buttons and the HUD is hard to interact with with just mouse + Keyboard. _________________ "All that comes out of the exhaust pipes of this porche are baby foxes." |
