So I just got a text from Mike today just asking if my number was still mine. I was expecting he had a pitch for a new movie idea, but instead he asked about role-playing.

Apparently, and completely unbeknownst to me, he has been playing D&D for years. He currently has a weekly-play D&D 5E group but wants to play more. He doesn't have a ton of experience as a DM but wants to get more.

He told me that Joe told him that we used to play tabletop games and asked if we'd be interested. I immediately regaled him with tales of GTARPG, Ciel, and L5R and he seemed super excited to play with us.

To be clear, this would be Mike running a game for us, not us merging with his current crew. He's been through several of the big campaign books they offer and they sound pretty neat.

Any takers?

You might know him as one of the hippies from UPJ. I've kept in touch a little and he and a few guys have been RPing for a few years.

That was my thought too when I read it. Now I'm not sure.

The only hippie Mike I could think of is McMullen, but my thought was that he was living out here in Pittsburgh, although that was a while ago.

I'm unemployed and it will give me an excuse to not work on Shadowrun, so sure.

Ah, what the hell, let's do it. I assume we're making characters when we get there?

Slight change in plans. Mike's running the starter campaign on the 19th with pregens. I know we had discussed character creation but he suggested we'd run through the starter campaign (1-3 sessions) and if we liked it we could then generate characters and start through one of the bigger modules.

So for this Friday, Mike has asked that we generate a character and text him a picture of the sheet so he can make plans for Friday. We can either roll for stats, use the point-buy system, or standard array. M has also said that if we roll terribly we can use the standard array as a backup.

I'm planning on either a Sword+Shield dwarf fighter or maybe sucking it up and keep trying with a Dwarf Cleric.
