BIG EDIT: GTAO is free to purchasers of GTAV. So that we can all play together, we should get it on the same system. See the articles below for more details.

I thought they were talking about GTA5? Is that the same thing now?

Apparently not, unless GTAO is a part of 5. I was under the impression that they were separate, but I think Online uses the same city from 5.

Gta 5's landmass is the basis for online, they will diverge there and additional area will be added to online later

from what I understand GTAO is the "multiplayer" of GTA5. But they're going to continually support it the way 343 studios is doing with the Halo4 Multiplayer. But it doesn't get released until 2 weeks from today, so you have 2 weeks to play the single player before all of the REAL shenanigans start.

correct. No PC release in sight. It is rumored that it won't be until after the next-gen consoles come out so that they can get as much money as possible. I don't blame them, first get current gen customers, then they'll all buy the next gen consoles and get the game again, and when those sales dwindle, then release it for PC. I'm going to guess early next year at the earliest.

With no official word on pc release and confirmed console launch windows in 2 months, given the norm of gta taking 4+ months to launch on pc I'm pretty certain those are just rumors and the game will get ported when it gets ported, no conspiracy about maximum profits needed. They made 800 mil day one, 300 mil more than bo2, they don't need your $10 upgrade fee.
