I want this to be good but I just can't understand how it could be anything but tedious.

I can see this as a way to get kids outside and exploring...

"What? You don't want to go for a walk? Well, I just got an alert that there is a Squirtle in the park! Let's go catch it!"

But yes I agree with you, this seems that it could get old quick. Then again if you had to travel to different regions to catch specific pokemon, then family trips to Yellowstone might be a bit more enticing to some children.

I mean...how many games have they put out by now that are essentially the same? May as well try something new.

I assume it's for the 3DS?

New Twist: The makers of Ingress are co-developing this.

Yeah, I was just reading about this. I thought it might interest you since

"The Pokémon GO Plus accessory is being developed and manufactured by Nintendo, while Pokémon GO itself is being developed by Niantic, creator of another popular augmented reality game called Ingress, which uses GPS to integrates real-world players into an augmented reality story."

It might not be as tedious as you think. The new gen Pokemon games allow you to global trade with anyone pretty easily. I like the Wonder trade feature they put in. I throw any pokemon up for trade and it grabs a trade from anyone in the world also doing a wonder trade at that time. You can get anything.

The Lvl 100 Shiny Dragonite was my best trade I've gotten from that so far.

Sometimes you hit gold. The majority of the time you get lvl 5 pokemon from the very first route in the game.

I enjoy using it. I've gotten starter pokemon that made me pretty happy. I remember having to restart the game 5 times and trade with Paul to get all the starters in the past. Now I do not have to have a second game or a friend with the other version to collect them all. I can just trade away with hopes of getting something to complete my collection. I typically traded away my breeding reject pokemon.

I've learned a lot in the past few years about competitive battling and breeding for perfect stats and move sets. The dedication it takes is interesting. I am wondering how much of that will be in Pokego.

This just got released. It's not available in the app store quite yet, but the apk is floating around out there. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot to it. I walked around for an hour on my lunch break, caught 19 pokemon, and that was that.

You just kinda catch them and it updates your pokedex. You can power them up with candies and eventually evolve them, which you get by catching more of the same kind.

At Level 5 you can access gyms, and I guess at that point you can fight, but I am not there yet. There are also Pokestops, and the game was telling me to go to one, but there was not one within quick walking distance from me. There was something I saw mentioning that locations were reused from Ingress for those locations, but I can't confirm that.

If nothing else, it will make you get up and walk around.

Just went for a walk, sadly did not catch anything >_<. Here is a faq for anyone interested in playing. https://support.pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/hc/en-us

Also you can join teams eventually, Red, Blue, or Yellow. Thoughts?

I joined Red, because I liked their mission statement. Team Valor all the way.

Red here as well.

My phone needs an upgrade desperately, it can barely handle keeping a GPS and 4g signal at the same time.

Is it wrong to buy a brand new phone to catch pokemon with?
