Reasonable activity from all hives today. Surprisingly the Queenless hive has drained it's syrup faster so I threw another one on them. Still have to move the other hive off the picnic table but I'm going to wait till they get established and I see some brood.

Had a lot of activity from my north hive today...I'm starting to think our split might have been successful.

Nah...I figure I'll let them go for a bit. They might still be raising a queen, for all I know.

Also, this thing is hilarious:

How would you "Harvest the Honey" without getting a "House Full of Bees"? It's pretty but absurd. Also it doesn't appear to respect Bee space so hello burr comb all over the glass!

Correct, but none of that would actually be a problem, because it doesn't come with any bees. They claim that the tiny place for a flowerpot would be enough to attract a swarm and make it move in. Laughing

Hmm...what else...

None of that honeycomb would fit into an extractor, so you'd have to tear apart their habitat to collect honey, which would probably get you several stings regardless of how much you smoke them. Also, your tasty honeycomb would be full of larva and eggs and nymphs since there's no way to control where the queen goes.

It's like they just didn't consult a beekeeper for even a second before designing that thing.

That article is pretty bad, the actual site linked in a comment states this thing is not meant as a production prototype but more a what if exercise.

Yeah, "What if we try to design a beehive without learning anything about bees or hives."

Heh...somehow I doubt this is how he does all of his uncapping/extracting, but the video definitely makes me feel better about our process.

Welp...here's the weirdest video I've seen...maybe ever?

Small possibility that it's NSFW? Not sure if the bees ever move aside enough to expose a nipple.

And make sure you turn on the audio for the full experience.
