As you are making characters we have to decide what level of status we want our family to enjoy.

If we EACH dedicate ROUGHLY:
1 advantage xp: small village, enough where people might have heard of where we're from
2 xp: Some sort of unique holding in our village, perhaps a dojo, a well known winter court, a sake works, or a well known katana smith
3 xp: Large town or city, getting into the big stuff here, places where a clan champion or a daimyo might actually tread once in a while.

Jacob do my numbers seem about right? please give us some input on if you care where we are in the scale etc.

I've set aside atleast 1 xp for this purpose and could scrounge up another 2 if people were willing to go bigger. This is one of the few time where we could essentially boost ourselves greatly in importance by each spending 3xp. The benefits aren't just limited to the eldest son either, certainly having places such as stables, taverns, farms, a court could benefit each and every one of us, and is likely to make money and connections easier to justify for character creation as well as later in the game should we need some koku.

Please chime in, the more opinions the better!

Yeah that's about right. The bigger the holding the more that is left over for younger siblings to take care of!

'take care of'...that is my only hesitation. But who knows...maybe it won't be too bad.

could be fun, so long as it doesn't become a game of micro-managing the town and all that jazz

I'm pretty ambivalent on this. It occurs to me that the Dragon clan puts relatively little weight on family wealth compared to some other clans.

Not likely going to be in dragon territory at all times, and also not likely to only deal with other dragons inside our own territory.

I dunno...it's not something I would really take if it were just for me, but if you guys all want it, I could throw a point or two at it.

I'm in the same boat as you Mark. It's just not something that appeals to me. Besides it would be total chump style to get killed by bandits because we were duty-bound to protect a rice field or something. Or to face honor loss because we trying to do something more important.

Then we show up at winter court and then get mocked for not even being able to save a small plot of land.

Not worth it to me....

But like Mark said, if you guys really want it. I happen to have one xp left over.
