Printable handguns are feasible now, no one has currently worked them out but with the progress of 3d printers we're not far off from each having a replicator in our house. Professional grade 3d printers can now work in multiple materials simultaneously and make very intricate designs, probably not the equivalent of a modern day fire arm but probably not far off from a simple firearm that won't blow up in the users hand.

That's not too new, but I don't think any actually handle enough pressure to function, yet.

I do think that 3d printers will soon be affordable enough to justify for many people. There are a couple under $2k now.

There was one on kickstarter awhile back : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/printrbot/printrbot-your-first-3d-printer

$250 for a build it yourself kit with everything but some boards, and $500 for a preassembled one.

Granted these aren't as nice as professional ones.

Still, for $500 that would be a pretty cool toy. They're only going to get cheaper too.

3d printers are making huge steps:

This one uses regular office paper and a water based glue to create full color 3d objects at drastically reduced costs. Staples is planning to offer 3d printing using this machine.

A .22 with a plastic barrel. I could make a more accurate and concealable firearm with parts from Lowes and a free afternoon.

Sure, but you'd need know how and some effort, not just to hit print. I'm not screaming the end if nigh, just that this crap is getting real and quickly.

Way too many copies out there now. That was a silly thing to do.

Yeah, it was in the news for a while of the government trying to get a hold of it, and then getting a hold of it. Within the same hour, another story reporting it available from the The Pirate Bay...then I read about Legos, and how they are pretty much immune to 3d printing at this stage due to the low error margin. My life can be fun sometimes.

Wait...so 3D printers aren't precise enough to print legos? Man, these guns have to be accurate as hell.

Also, I would love for them to chrono one. Probably like, 600fps...
