So I'm happy now. Just wish I was up there so we could play irresponsible Bavarian motor cars together...

This beats having a girfriend any day of the week. I love this thing.

Bring it up here, it's looks like it's lacking in salt.

Right. This thing will never see salt. Unless I take it to the beach, then it gets an immediate bath.

Come to Florida. Your car will thank you for it.

Also, I guess I have a lot to learn now so I'll be at Bimmerforums for all eternity if anyone needs me..

How did they get the other 3l to make so little power? It must of been outsourced.

I current spent most of my time there in bfcot, far more than I should admit.

Did you look at the power and torque peaks? It's just fine for an NA engine. I was expecting it to really suck after you said that. It's probably flat as hell.

I also find it constantly entertaining how much of an Audi partisan you're becoming. Wink

I was actually refering to the old version of the 3l in the z4:

Quote:

Applications in the US Market (taken from BMWUSA website 07/10/07):
260 hp (195 kW) @ 6600 rpm and 225 ftlbf (305 Nm) @ 2750 rpm
E83 X3 3.0si Sports Activity Vehicle
E70 X5 3.0si Sports Activity Vehicle
255 hp (190 kW) @ 6600 rpm and 220 ftlbf (300 Nm) @ 2750 rpm
E85/E86 Z4 3.0si Roadster and Coup
230 hp (172 kW) @ 6500 rpm and 200 ftlbf (271 Nm) @ 2750 rpm
E92/E93 328i/328xi Sedan, Coup, (inc 4WD versions) and the upcoming Hardtop Convertible
E60/E61 528i/528xi Sedan and Touring (inc 4WD versions)
E82 128i Coup
215 hp (160 kW) @ 6250 rpm and 185 ftlbf (250 Nm) @ 2750 rpm
E85 Z4 3.0i Roadster

215/185 is pretty bad for a 3l isn't it? My old m50 2.5l makes almost that much torque.

As for the Audi remark. the turbos just make it a little unfair. The new 3.5l turbo from bmw is damn good. I can't wait to see the 335d.

The 335d is cool. Maybe we'll get some diesel Audis over here as competition.

Anyway, I noticed you went with a silver car, Vince. Poor choice, man.

Stop trying to piss on my parade. I love this car. And yeah, I wasn't sold on the color, but it's not ticket-me-red or anything. I would really have liked to get the same color as mom's 325, but this is rather nice to look at still..

I'm too tired to do my own research at the moment, but I will in the morning if no one knows this off hand. What is the difference between the 3.0i and the 3.0si? I know the si costs more, but that's about it.. I feel so stupid lately, I need stimulating car conversations.

Seems like the big difference is the engine, see above.

Hey, you gave John nearly as much shit as I did when he bought a silver car. If I ever buy a silver car (I won't), you can do the same to me.*

*Yes, I understand that this post essentially guarantees that my next car will be silver.

Hopefully, my next car will be a mid-90s 240sx, so I don't know if I'll care that much. Just try not to spray on the windows.

So, yeah, after some research the 3.0si has the 255 hp 3.0 N52 engine, much like my mom's 215 hp 2.5.. But the N52 comes in a 215 hp 3.0 as well. That blows my mind. I'm glad I chose the si. My tire budget isn't, but that's ok, that means I can ditch the run flats sooner. The si also gets the Z4M bumpers and such as far as I can tell, 6 speed trans, bigger brakes, stiffer suspension. So it's a weaksauce Z4M, but I still love it. Bimmerforums seems to be harder to find useful info in than I remember. I've been wading through too many flame wars and garbage just to see what kind of upgrades I might be able to do to my car. Seems a lot of Z4 owners are chumps (not all, there are some intelligent sounding people on there). Also seems like I might be entering a world of eventual pain with my transmission as the 6 speed in certain M and si Z4s has a second gear synchro problem.. Ive got a warranty til 2010 so I won't have to worry about it until after then.

Meh, the same is true for the S4. I'm not worried about it. Second is a little notchy at times, but that was true in my a4 too. I've seen some people rebuilding, but not that many.

How many people actually seem to be rebuilding them with the z4?
