I'm not sure if any of you have been following the case thus far but Pirate Bay is being sued by a number of industries in a single case.

The charges boil down to 2 categories, "assisting copyright infringement" and "assisting making available."

Today the defense got all of the infringement charges dropped in one pass by pointing out that in the prosecutions own explanation of how tracking works he mentioned that it is impossible to prove that any of the .torrent files actually came from, thus they cannot be evidence against the pirate bay.

So in day 2 of the trial 1/2 the charges are dropped and the defense is having a field day.

From what I've read, they plan to make a spectical of it even if they would lose.

Anyone have an article or something they can post about it. I would like to read more, and am too lazy to find one myself.

Not quite over but the trial is way ahead of schedule, also the defendants go out to lunch the same places as prosecution and offer to pay for the pizza.

The case looks really solid, I'm not sure exactly how this even made it through pretrial. I wonder if Sweden has double jeopardy? Or will this trial give TPB free rain to keep on keeping on?

Prosecution gets scolded for trying to introduce new evidence during questioning without the defense having ever seen it.

Day 5:

Prosecution gets scolded again for the same thing.

Long article but there were some fun parts, like the one TPB member schooling a lawyer who tried to use IRL in a sentence. Also when asked about whether or not he believes in copyright he said that is a political question and asked the lawyer if this was a political trial, the lawyer retreated.

Man, a transcript of this would be so entertaining. Too bad it'd be in Swedish.

I'm told people are translating it daily, I just haven't found one yet.

This trial seems to be pretty much over, the prosecution hasn't realized yet.

I find it kind of ridiculous that they've now changed the charges twice during the actual trial. I thought things had to be sturdier to even make it out of pretrial.

Even if they are found guilty the site is still going to survive because they've set up a double blind server, the people hosting the servers don't know it's TPB and the people running it don't know where the servers are (besides NOT Sweden) Very Happy

I knew that they were moved a few years ago, but I didn't know it was double-blind. That's a really good idea.

Closing statements of the defendants. We won't know the verdict until mid April. ><
