Yeah, it is a little unrealistic unless you allow the 3? domains script access, but it makes a great point about blocking js.

PSA: Apparently Microsoft is changing Windows 10 to a "recommended update" this week, which means it'll get pushed to your machine if you have auto-update with recommended updates turned on. If you don't want to switch from Windows 7 to a comprehensively worse OS, you might want to check your update settings.

What are the big drawbacks of Windows 10?

The ui might be better than 8.1, but the telemetry collection and privacy policy is really bad. Of course, if you haven't removed a number of KBs from 7 and 8.x your machine if likely to be providing telemetry data already.
I also think that if they're brazen enough to put ads in the start menu while they are actively seeking adoption numbers it's sure to be worse later, but that's my option. At the moment some of those features can be turned off, but not all of them.

If you do get stuck with it, the following guide might be helpful in disabling a lengthy list of undesirable "features."

Thought that's not to say it takes care of everything.

Well...I'm not sleeping right now anyway, so let's take a look at their Privacy Statement for Win10. Spoiler alert -- it's upsetting.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement/default.aspx

Note that each section looks relatively innocuous until you click on the "Learn More" button.

Some key excerpts:

Quote:
Name and contact data. We collect your first and last name, email address, postal address, phone number, and other similar contact data.

Credentials. We collect passwords, password hints, and similar security information used for authentication and account access.

Demographic data. We collect data about you such as your age, gender, country and preferred language.

Interests and favorites. We collect data about your interests and favorites, such as the teams you follow in a sports app, the stocks you track in a finance app, or the favorite cities you add to a weather app. In addition to those you explicitly provide, your interests and favorites may also be inferred or derived from other data we collect.

Payment data. We collect data necessary to process your payment if you make purchases, such as your payment instrument number (such as a credit card number), and the security code associated with your payment instrument.

Health Related Ad Targeting. In the United States, we provide interest-based advertising based on a limited number of standard, non-sensitive health-related interest categories, including allergies, arthritis, cholesterol, cold and flu, diabetes, gastrointestinal health, headache / migraine, healthy eating, healthy heart, men's health, oral health, osteoporosis, skin health, sleep, and vision / eye care. We will also target ads based on custom, non-sensitive health-related interest categories as requested by advertisers.

Because the data used for interest-based advertising is also used for other necessary purposes (including providing our services, analytics and fraud detection), opting out of interest-based advertising does not stop that data from being collected. Nor does it mean you will stop getting ads or see fewer ads. However, if you do opt out, the ads you receive will no longer be interest-based and may be less relevant to your interests.

Orange section highlighted for being absolute fucking bullshit.

Sweet. Really glad I clicked "no fucking thanks" a while ago when I turned my laptop on and it tried to get me to update to windows 10. And now I'll have to go disable my updates so they don't do it for me.

and my guess is that this is all perfectly legal because 99.9% of people click okay without reading the policy?
