Super cool, I'd be worried about what happens if you turn it sideways (in shipping etc) or when moving.

I can't see any reason the sand part wouldn't be sealed, since they're just manipulating the bearing with a magnet. You could probably just level it and give it a little shake to even the sand out.

There is apparently a calibration/levelling pattern that the ball will do for you.

I'd mostly be concerned about static causing some sand to stick to the top/edge and driving me forever insane.
