I really wouldn't delve into something like that without having some dedicated garage space available. Other than that, I don't know nearly enough about that thing to give you much advice. It might be a relatively easy car to learn to work on, or it might be total hell. Also, parts availability might suck?

But damned if it isn't pretty.

I refuse to talk you out of this. The GT is a super cool little car. It's a mini 4 cylinder German Corvette. They're sorta rare, but not so rare that you'd have to feel bad for cutting it up or shoehorning something like a SR20 into it.. I totally endorse this decision and welcome you to project car hell. You're in good company.
