So. My plans are ever-changing, however, I need to locate a used car for under 5 grand, that doesn't suck, and won't immediately blow up. But it seems the market for reasonable cars has dried up, and I'm left with 2 wheel drive trucks, and Kia Rios, and first gen Ford Focii. This is ridiculous, at this rate, I will just keep Truckzilla and just hope it holds itself together for a cross country trek...

Anyone know of anything reasonable, I might even just come up there and buy it and drive it down here to get it tagged...

If we've learned anything from Top Gear, it's that a cross-country trek can be accomplished in nearly any vehicle.

20v S6.. Hot... But yeah you know thats the Jeremy Clarkson approach.. Let find a cross between Hampster and Captain Slow with a hint of Clarkson for choices..

Also, I think I'm gonna modify my parameters, I think for the icy north I'm gonna want 4wd.. something with ground clearance. and not an AMC Eagle, Mark. Cuz right now I'm drooling over a 1st gen low miles Eagle Talon TSI, and I know it will only break my heart, and get stuck in the snow..

Cool, so now due to recent events beyond my control, I have money for much nicer 4x4... I'm looking to spend about 10-11,000 and let the insurance pay off the Bimmer... So now I -have- to go car shopping. Ugh.

Are you set on a truck/suv, or still considering a awd car?

I would consider an AWD car, but there is a concern about ground clearance for North Dakota snow.. Ideally, I'd like a 4 door, 4WD truck like a Frontier or Tacoma..

As long as you're not going off road, an awd car will still be fine. We've literally driven John's S4 in enough snow to cover his headlights...no problem.

But making a Top Gear North Pole Tacoma is okay, too.

Yeah ideally, a TG North Pole expedition Tacoma or Frontier is what I'd like, but that'll take a lot of cash and time to build eventually. But I guess they got a 2 foot snow storm last night, and it builds up quick. At this point I'm tire of everyone (not you guys) telling me what to buy, and I'm just gonna take my insurance check when I get it and buy something I like. My mom keeps trying to dictate what I get and I keep telling her to go to hell, no one had a problem with me buying an impractical car when it was a cute little convertible that they could use or a truck with payload capacity, but now that I'm considering a boring AWD sedan everyone has a problem. I'm failry certain I paid for the car, and it was in my name, and I insured it, and I was very happy with it and wasn't planning on replacing it anytime soon, so I'm going to buy what I want, damnit. I just don't know what it is yet.

Found quite a few 2007-2008 A4 Quattros in my price range, all with <40000 miles. That could do.. Though all of them are auto so far. Going to call a guy about an Evo 9 GSR as well..

They are fairly hideous. I also don't believe they really exist, as I've never seen one on the road.
