Well, I'm not really asking them to entirely fuck people over. Like I said, 115k with a severence of retirement benefits is going to save us a lot of money in the long run. At the same time, we'll avoid creating a whole new class of elderly homeless in Detroit.

It does sever the retirement benefits. So does bankruptcy...

Actually that's not always true. Sometimes provisions must be made to continue benifits.

It's a bit dripping with sarcasm but the outlines of what Obama is asking the Banks to do and the ridiculous conflict of interests going on is hilarious.

Chrysler declared bankrupcy, when they come out of it the UAW will own 55% of them... that sounds like a good business model right? have the people driving you under making the hard choices.

The best part is that the government went to the banks who Chrysler owed money and said "give up your claims to the interest and you might get your money back" and when all the banks (who are themselves in dire shape) said fuck that Chrysler declared bankruptcy effectively nullifying those claims while handing 55% majority of the shares to the UAW.

I read that yesterday. It's so confusing though, I swear the last thing I read was that they were selling the brand to Penske, right? I guess that fell through.

Looks like that's the case:
